Overview: 

Apollo Orchestra is a professional orchestra based in the Washington, DC area that presents high-level classical and opera performances in local community venues. It was founded in 2010 and is funded by The Downing Family Foundation, which enables the orchestra to offer all of its concerts with free admission.

Website Design and Development:

Apollo’s previous website faced several challenges, particularly around functionality and performance. Slow load times and reliance on an externally hosted database made maintenance and updates cumbersome. Although the site’s primary goal was to encourage performance sign-ups, it didn’t fully showcase Apollo’s annual concert offerings.

I designed the new website to transform how audiences discover and engage with the orchestra’s programming. The improved layout and architecture make it easy for visitors to explore upcoming concerts, venues, and neighborhood events at a glance. A streamlined, event-focused CMS now allows information to automatically populate across multiple linked pages. The result is a faster, more dynamic site that not only enhances performance but also visually highlights acclaimed soloists and guest artists, aligning the design with the orchestra’s artistry and high standards.
